I have a client experiencing problems with SQL Server 2005 64 bit
(sp1). The server has 4 gigs of memory available, however I can not
increase the memory allocated via management studio past 2 gigs. When
I look at the .exe in task manager, I see that service is using about
3.5 gigs. Can I just go into sp_configure and set it to what I need?
Not sure if this matters...the processors are made by AMD. Please
advise...
I think if you check that value in management studio you will see that is
not 2 gigs but a much higher number.

Are you maybe trying to administer a 64 bit version with a 32 bit
client? Maybe that has some built in limitations. Just a wild guess.

Memory Allocation - Win2k3 SP1 and SQL Server 2K SP4
I have a SQL Server cluster with 4 Dual Core 3.0Ghz Processors and 8 GB
of RAM. I have PAE and AWE enabled on the server, but I cannot get SQL
Server to access more than 4GB of RAM (using perfmon- SQLServer:Memory
Manager/Total Server Memory). I would like to allocate nearly all of
the available memory on the machine to SQL Server.
I seem to have the same symptons described in this MS article-
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=899761, but I get a "No
Qualifying Products" error when I try to install the HOTFIX.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
NickHi
appologies if this is an obvious response - are you using std or ent?
the hotfix is for ent and dev editions.

MDX Query Tool Problem
I am trying to get to grips with cube reporting and am running the MDX Query
Tool against AdventureWorksDW on SQL 2005 sp1, Standard Edition (I am not
fluent in MDX). No matter what dimensions I drag on, the only output I can
get is a single cell / report services field.
For example, if I drag on the geography.country dimension and Sales
Order.Order Count measure, I just get a count of all orders.
--
simonI have found some sample MDX code for AdventureWorks that does work with the
Report Builder. Clearly I need to get more proficient with writing good
queries.
