Meaning of TextQualified attribute in flat file connections

Can anybody explain what the meaning of the TextQualified attribute on a flat file connection is? I am importing delimited flat files where text columns are not qualified by quotes. If I use the Suggest Types button in the Flat File Connection Manager Editor, it sets TextQualified to True for all columns. Importing works fine than, but it also does with TextQualified = False. So what's the difference?

Hans Geurtsen.

If TextQualified=TRUE then a string surrounded by quotes will get interpreted as just the string. In other words the following 2 entries in the file will be loaded as the same:

ThisIsAString
"ThisIsAString"

So it depends on the nature of your data as to whether the TextQualified property has any effect or not.

meaning of paused status

What is the meaning of the "paused" status of a catalog? What is still
working and what isn't?
Thanks.
It could mean you are on battery power, low disk space, low memory. Use the
gatherer logs to interpret further.

|||That helps a little. What I'm looking for is this: if the catalog is paused,
what is not running in the catalog? Are the indexes still useable, etc.
Can you point me to some documentation on the meaning of all the catalog
statuses? I've looked at all the microsoft documentation I can find and some
we searches, but no luck.
Thanks.

Regarding the status - does this help?

|||The link you gave me below is the only info I can find on the the statuses,
and it only lists what they are, not their meaning and what special
conditions are in effect when the catalog is in these states (like indexing
stopped, indexes not available, etc.).

|||I have change-tracking background index update running. When I insert new
records into the table, the catalog status changes from "change tracking" to
"paused", back and forth several times, while the ~20k rows are being
inserted.
Are all the inserted records being indexed?
Thanks for the help.

Meaning of datacode in sysdtslog90?

The documentation says:

"An integer value that identifies the event associated with the log entry. The value 0 indicates the event provided no identifier."

When I look at the sysdtslog90 table and I filter for 'PackageEnd' events, I see a value of 0, 1 or 3 in the datacode column. Is there any information I can glean from these values, e.g. package success or failure?

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I'm interested.

Thanks!

MEANING FOR THE SYMBOL IN REPL MONITOR

Soura,
if there is a dropped connection you can see this icon.
The amount of retries is a property of the replication
agent's job, and defaults to 10 AFAIR. After that, it'll
be reported as an error.

Hi,
Thanks for ur reply.
I have set a test replication. In that, this symbol has been existing since
the replication has been set. But the data is replicating perfectly.
what it says?
Thanks,
Soura
